Just when summer nears, many of us start dreading the insanely hot wave of air that makes us sweat to the core. Hot and humid weather affects our internal and external systems of the body in every possible way which is unbearable for us on multiple levels. Apart from swimming, relaxing in fully air-conditioned spaces and gulping down gallons of chilled smoothies, wearing breathable and comfortable clothing is by far the most common way to tackle the heatwave. Experts have named a number of fabric types that remain by your side through the harshest of summers and among them is cotton. Does cotton really help you survive hot weather or is it just another old wives’ tale that is successfully imprinted in our minds?

We have seen a lot of people turning to cotton and putting away silky fabrics when the summers are just around the corner. We are sure there must be something extremely special about this very fabric. Did you know people keenly go through garment brand or care labels and price tags before buying summer clothing to make sure if the shirt is made of cotton?  We don’t know if you have ever noticed this or not, every brand regardless of the size, mentions the fabric on the care labels and sometimes on the price tags which are attached around the collar or sleeves of ready-made clothing items.

The reason why a major fraction of the population resorts to cotton is because of its softness and weight. The fabric is extremely lightweight and does not cling to the body which lets the air in. It keeps you comfortable at all times even if you are sweating like there’s no tomorrow. It is known to have properties that absorb sweats and lets the heat successfully escape the body. This eventually maintains the right temperature for your body and keeps your cool for a major part of the day. More than that, we all know how frequently we need to wash clothes during the hottest months because of excessive sweating. In this regard, cotton fabric or cotton garment labels are pretty much easy to handle because it can be conveniently washed.

However, sometimes when there is too much sweating, the same cotton can become a problem for you. Since the fabric soaks up your sweat, it tends to become heavier and a little uncomfortable to carry. If you are unfortunate enough, then you might also witness stains of sweat around the collars and armpits which are more visible on lighter colored cotton. This is still not that big of a problem because you can put in your washing machine and run the machine and the stains will be gone. It may only be hard for you if you are someone who is scared by even the slightest mention of doing laundries.

The ability of cotton to make your summers comfortable than before also depends upon the kind of quality you invest in. It is important to know that it is the 21st century and a single product comes in countless categories and grades and so is the case with cotton. Nowadays, cotton manufacturers are coming with up blended garment fabrics in a variety of colors, styles, and qualities. This is why you might have come across 60% cotton, 70% cotton, etc. written on clothing tags.

Major players in the clothing industry have made massive waves by coming up with cotton clothing items that have left the audience and rivals amazed like never before. One of the biggest reasons why so many people look up to these brands for cotton clothing is the fact that they perfectly blend quality and fashion.

Because of its art and science of catering to rapidly changing fashion trend. Cotton became a luxury fabric for eveyday/ luxury wear as well clothing care labels. There’s a new fashion trend in the market today and you will notice many brands coming up with a related collection with the speed of a bullet. Moreover, the success of high-end brands today is also based on their keen attention to detail. It is such that their custom hangtags and woven labels are also one of a kind and leave the customers totally awestruck. Cotton Woven labels are made from fine thread and they incorporate intricate designs which make the product great value for money. Not only this, but they also make sure that the clothing item perfectly serves its purpose. If you buy a cotton shirt from brands like Ralph Lauren, ZARA, etc. the level of comfort will be noticeable eventhought the cotton fabric is totally different.

As we all know, higher end designers are using high quality cotton for their clothig line and clothing labels.

Pima cotton is a type of staple material that has extra-long, more durable fibers. Think of regular cotton but with better fibers. The reason pima is more sought after than standard material is because it lasts longer and is softer to the touch. In fact, the fibers in pima is 50 percent longer than regular materials, making this type extra soft since it’s made up of the fluffiest part of the bulb. Pima is only grown in Peru, Australia, and the United States. Only three percent of cotton grown in the United States is pima – so not only is the material softer and more durable, it is rarer than typical stuff.

Aside from the benefits mentioned above, pima will certainly last longer than regular material. The highly durable fibers will withstand more washes than regular material, making this stuff superior to standard fibers. The materials made with pima will be softer, as well, due to those elongated fibers. The only real downsides to pima is the price. Since these fibers are stronger and rarer, naturally, the price for these superior goods will be on the higher end. It really depends on how you look at it, though; since these will be more expensive materials, but they will certainly last longer than standard textiles.

Imagine pima but with more bells and whistles. In fact, the word “Supima” means superior Pima. These fibers are stronger, softer, and more durable than the Pima, making this material more expensive and more sought after. This is some of the most luxurious material you can get, and it is only manufactured in the United States. This material is strictly regulated, so you can be sure anything that says Supima on it is authentically U.S. grade Supima cotton. Supima is a brand name trademarked by the Supima Association, so all Supima is Pima but at that next level. This brand makes sure all their materials are top-of-the-line, superior grade fibers.

If you like that extra durable strength of the Pima cotton but with more fluffiness, the Supima is the brand for you. These cotton fibers are the longest and strongest you can find on the market, and since this is a tightly regulated brand of cotton, you can be sure every Supima material is authentically Supima. This cotton will last longer, be stronger, and will almost feel like silk on the skin. Although it is rare to see bedding using strictly Supima cotton, there is bedding out there made of Supima – but be prepared to pay the price.

You will more commonly see Supima cotton being used in high-end retail outlets due to the silky soft fibers. Expensive clothing lines like to use Supima due to the strength and softness these cotton fibers bring to their clothing. Clothing wise, anything made with Supima will last far longer than standard clothing, making this material a sensible purchase if you are someone who prefers not to throw worn out clothing away often. This fabric will stand the test of time. Supima is expensive. In fact, Supima is three times more expensive than regular cotton and twice the price of Pima materials. If you are looking for some new queen-sized sheets, for example, a set of Pima sheets will cost anywhere from $$$ to $$$, where a set of the same sized sheets in Supima will cost anywhere from $$$ to $$$. Ultimately, these sheets will feel much more luxurious and will definitely last longer, but it could be a hefty price tag to pay for most people

Every thread and fiber pay off well enough and the product will probably last you a lifetime if you take care of it properly. However, do not forget to carefully read care instruction labels because it has all the important details regarding the items you are going to pay for. From care instructions to the type of material, it contains everything you need to know well before using the product. A cotton-polyester blend will not only protect you from the intense heat of the area you live in, but also save you from ironing it time and again. Yes, cotton-polyester blends do not get severe wrinkles like pure cotton fabrics do, which is why they require less ironing.
