Clothing label FAQs covering custom labels, woven labels, heat transfers, and hangtags for your apparel brand.
Clothing Label FAQs:
What type of label is best for clothing brands?
Woven labels are the most durable and give garments a high-end, professional look. Printed labels and tagless heat transfers are great options for lightweight garments or when comfort is a priority.
What is the difference between woven labels and printed labels?
Woven labels are made by weaving threads together, which creates a textured and long-lasting finish. Printed labels are ink-based and work well for detailed designs or when a softer feel is needed. We offer satin printed labels, cotton printed labels, nylon printed labels as well as TPU, Tyvek, PVC, Silicone, Leather and Leatherette.
Can I use heat transfers instead of sewn-in labels?
Yes, tagless heat transfers are a popular alternative to traditional sewn labels. They are applied directly to the garment and provide a clean, comfortable, no-tag feel.
What information should be included on a clothing label?
Most clothing labels include your brand name, size, country of origin, and care instructions. Depending on the garment, fiber content may also be required. Our blog about Why Care and Content Labels Matter will give you more infomation.
What is the minimum order for custom clothing labels?
Minimums vary depending on the label type, but we offer low minimums to accommodate both new and established clothing brands.
How long does it take to produce custom labels?
Production times vary depending on the product, but most orders are completed within a few business days after artwork approval. For service bureau work, most orders are printed and shipped within 1-2 business days.
Can you help with label design?
Yes, we’re happy to help with basic design adjustments such as sizing, layout, and minor edits at no additional cost. For more complex design work or larger projects, we may apply a design fee depending on the scope of the work.
How do I choose the right Pantone color for my labels?
Pantone colors are used to ensure consistent and accurate color matching in label production. If you already have a Pantone (PMS) color, you can provide that with your artwork. If not, you can browse available colors using the Pantone Color Finder tool. Keep in mind that colors may appear differently on screens, so physical samples or Pantone books provide the most accurate reference.
Do I need different labels for different garment sizes?
In many cases, yes. Size labels (S, M, L, etc.) are often separate or incorporated into the main label depending on your design. While not always required, they do help the consumer. We can incorporate them into the main label design, or we also offer small, individual size labels. Just ask or email us.
What are hangtags used for?
Hangtags are used for branding, pricing, and product information. They are typically attached to garments with string or plastic fasteners and are often the first thing customers see.
Are your labels made in the USA?
We offer both domestic and overseas production depending on our in house capabilities, your needs, timeline, and budget.
What is your return policy?
Because all of our labels and tags are custom-made to your specifications, we are unable to accept returns on completed orders. However, if there is an issue due to a production error or defect, please contact us and we will work with you to resolve it. For UPC barcode tags and labels produced through our service bureau, any errors must be reported within 3 business days of receipt so we can review and reprint if necessary.
