Why not accessorize your hangtag? There are unlimited upgrades that can be added when you are designing a custom hangtags for your clothing or accessory. Since we’ve already covered what can be done with our woven tags and printed labels – it’s time to see some of the bells and whistles that can take your hangtag to the next level and give it a little bling bling.

Main questions from our clients about custom hangtags.

Can I add string to my hangtag? What kinds of strings can I choose for my tags? Are hemp strings a natural fiber? Can cotton strings be any color?

What is the metal ring called on a price tag? Can satin ribbons be any color? Is jute the same as twine?

Satin Ribbons – These ribbons can be dyed to match any color and is sure to give your hangtags a really sophisticated look. We offer satin and organza material.

Cotton Cord – Thicker than our regular cotton string and sturdy to give your design a rugged feel. These can also be dyed to any color or left unbleached and natural.

Metal Ball and Chain – Available in different colors.

Locking string – Available in all colors. These are perfect for keeping custom hangtags secure and more difficult to re-attach.

Cotton String – These simple

but elegant strings can be dyed to match any color. They are sure to add a sense of value to your garment.

Hemp and Twine – Nothing is more rugged and natural looking. Works great with a re-cycled tag or kraft paper.

Metallic strings – Available in silver or gold. Works great on jewelry tags.

Elastic string – Available in many colors. Perfect when you want to attach your custom hangtags by looping the hangtags through the string itself.

Metal eyelet/Grommet – These are available in silver, gold, black, white or antique and make a nice addition to any design. Adds sturdiness and weight to the tags.

Safety Pins – These are available in silver, white, black or antique.

His factory was a flat-topped building where the roof sustained his grapevines and cool autumn evenings were spent playing the mandolin and celebrating the days’ work with his artisans. Many believe that his world renowned success was due mainly by the talents of his 4 daughters, Antoinette, Clementina, Felicia, and Gianina (Nina). All are modern, intelligent, attractive, and cleverly attune to the latest trends from Milan, Paris and New York City. But Nina is the most scientific and practical of them all, and to her we owe our tale of life and experience.

I am Amelia, one pair of Papa’s “babies.” I am my father’s bellissima opera d’arte (beautiful work of art), I have style, color, and my own size to fit just the right person. Papa taught us from a very young age that we would have to share our boxes, and sometimes even our “soles”, with barcodes.

Papa says that we must endure the annoying and unflattering additions to our beauty until we find our new homes, when we are bought, in America. After tolerating the embellishment of woven labels proudly displaying Papa’s proud and strong brand name, printed clothing labels letting the Americans know our size and how to care for us and a beautiful custom hangtag detailing the history of Papa and his craftsmanship, we were wrapped in swaddling tissue and placed in our secure box. He whispered to all of us as we were placed in our shipping containers, that the carton barcode will help Uncle Felix at our warehouse in America.

Aunt Nina received orders from all of Papa’s customers on the computer. She said that by receiving the orders electronically (between computers) she could let the customers know what the prices were and when the shipment was expected to arrive. She called it EDI. Having the purchase orders electronically also helps Aunt Nina print and apply our barcodes at the factory. She said, these fingers are made for making bread, not for re-typing a bunch of numbers I already have in the computer.”

Aunt Nina would explain to us that we would all be receiving a barcode label or tag. She said “there are many different types of barcodes all with different characteristics, in terms of size and in terms of the message that can be put within them.” Simply, Barcodes are license plates; they represent who you are and where you came from. Additionally, so Uncle Felix at the warehouse and the family that buys knows how to handle you and how much you cost.

Then again, when landed at the warehouse, Uncle Felix told us he used the barcodes so he knew where, when and how many of us where in the warehouse at any given time. At all times and all the time, Uncle Felix knew who we were, where we were, and more from the moment we arrived at his warehouse.

With that said, the mornings were a tough time for Uncle Felix. From where we sat we could hear him shouting Bafanabala! Bafanabala! Barfanabala! (Which literally meant “Go To Naples”) but when uncle Felix yelled it, and touched his fingers to his forehead, it meant things were changing and special situations had to be addressed.

You see, every morning at the warehouse was like triage, customer asking that we be sent immediately, sometimes with their own specific new and/or additional barcode labels or hangtags. ALL the time with their own specific carton labels, packing slips, routing, and EDI requirements. Macys and customers like them would delay, to the very last minute, their instructions of which stores we were supposed to be shipped to. Uncle Felix wouldn’t receive these distribution messages into his computer until moments before we actually landed in the warehouse. Because my cousins before us were barcoded and scanned when they were sold, (and not scanned when they weren’t sold) Macys knew where the pretty shoes were selling and not. They used all sorts of sales information, arithmetic and intuition, to guarantee that we were sent to the right place, at the right time. From old wine barrels, sticks, barcode scanners and twine Uncle Felix built a sortation system that would drop just the exact shoes into the exact barrels and off we would go to the needy stores.

But Macys delay and just in time distribution was by no means the end of triage and the “bafanabalas.” Uncles Tuggy, Spike and Tuddy were our salespeople. Although they loved each other like brothers, they argued like 3 roosters in a 10 foot cage.

Tuggy would say, “I need the same style shoes for MY customer as Macys or else I won’t get the order.” Spike would demand, “My internet customers and my internet customer’s customers must know what Felix has in stock, 24X7, absolutely and positively!” I can remember hearing Uncle Tut saying, “I have one customer that will buy a million pair if we change the existing barcodes and bag the pairs in two’s.”

In the fashion business stealing inventory from Paul to pay Peter is commonplace, and unless we had the computer to computer messages for standard communications, executing the special orders, special shipping instructions, and special packaging, triage would soon turn to mayhem and Uncle Felix would “bafa” himself to death.

As Papa said, “today we must sell to everyone. Merchants and sales channels have never been so diverse”. If Papa had to anticipate customer requirements and reserve warehouse space for every variation of customer we very well would be lost along the way, orphans. So, because I am one of Papa’s bellissima opera d’arte’s I will continue to smile at the the bafanabalas; tolerate re-tagging, over-labeling, re-bagging, and last minute re-routing in order to find perfect home where I will be loved and sparkled for the rest of my days. ~ The End

The secret to getting your product noticed over your competition can be as simple as making your clothing tags or woven labels into a DIE CUT shape.

The word die cut refers to making an item into a shape other than a simple square or rectangle. A die is sort of like a cookie cutter. A die can be used on many types of material such as leather, cardboard, plastic, rubber, or fabric.

Take a look at the pictures and let your imagination explore the possibilities.

Tagless transfers are continuing to be one of our most popular items. They are easy to apply and will last for the lifetime of the garment. They can take the place of a woven or printed clothing label OR used in conjunction with other clothing tags to show your logo, washing directions, fiber content and sizing.

In order to design an image that works best for your clothing, keep in mind the following guidelines to help you design a hard to forget clothing label:

Larger is better – If you plan to include your logo along with care instructions, fiber content, sizing, your website address and a clever slogan then make the clothing transfer LARGE enough to read it all without a magnifying glass.

Large Tagless Heat Transfer

Less is more– It might be a good idea to keep it simple. Just use your logo. Let an additional sewn in printed label give the buyer all the other information.

Tagless Heat Transfer Logo Only

Bold is beautiful– Some of the best tagless heat transfer designs are made with an easy to read font with simple to read information.

Tagless Heat Transfer Bold

The number one mistake made is to use a small, ornate font. Keep in mind, when a heat transfer is ironed on to clothing, the heat from the iron flattens out the design. So, if you use a small busy label, once it’s ironed on, the the letters will merge together and make the information difficult to read and unprofessional looking.

Text is small and hard to read

A custom hang tag can add immeasurable value to any clothing or accessory. Clothing hang tags not only offer the brand name but can also give other useful information about the manufacturer, item, pricing and size. There are many choices to consider if you are about to order a custom hang tag. The price of hangtags will vary greatly according to multiple variables.

Material type (i.e. paper, canvas, PVC, rubber)

Overall size and shape of the hang tag (i.e. die cut, straight cut, oval, round)

The number of colors to be printed on each side of the hang tag

Thickness of the stock

Understanding how to measure the thickness of the card stock can be tricky. Paper thickness terminology changes depending on the industry. For our type of clothing tags, we measure the thickness and assign a point value. The chart and picture will give you a better idea of what options are available. We can offer just about anything you can dream up.

Did you ever question the significance of the RN number on clothing and textile goods? Look at the care and content label on clothing and more than likely you will see an RN number. RN or Registered Number is a number issued by the Federal Trade Commission if requested. They are given to businesses residing in the U.S. that are engaged in the manufacture, importing, distribution or sale of textiles, wool, or fur products. HOWEVER – Such businesses are not required to have an RN. Some companies choose to use the RN in place of a name on the label or tag that is required to be affixed to these products.

RN numbers and CA numbers on heat transfers and clothing labels

RN numbers or registered numbers

can be incorporated into all types of clothing labels like woven labels, care/content printed labels, hangtags and Tagless heat transfers. You can use the same RN number for all different items that you may produce. The Federal Trade Commission issues only one RN number per company. So, you don’t need a new RN for every style, color, size of your garments. RN numbers are free and only take a few days to have one assigned.

There is also an equivalent in Canada called a CA Identification number. Only Canadian manufacturers, processors or finishers of a textile fiber product or Canadians engaged in the business of importing or selling any textile fiber product are allowed to register for a CA Identification Number.

We know how important it is to have your own company name or brandname label in your custom clothing line . You may want to consider starting out with t-shirts that have an easy to remove clothing label called Tear AwayTM. Having a removable label can decrease the time and expense of opening the seam to remove the old label or by having to sew your own on top of the existing label.

By starting with a shirt that has a tear out label it will be much easier to apply your own custom heat transfer label, woven tag or printed label in its place. We have researched and found that there are a couple of different options to choose from.

Woven label, clothing tag

https://www.alstyle.com/default.aspx (Tear away style 1701)

or

http://www.anvilknitwear.com/Product-Catalogs/Tees/779

If you don’t have room in your budget to pay a seamstress to remove and add labels, these shirts can make it a little easier to do it yourself and still offer a professional and finished look to your clothing.

>>> Mention “TEARAWAY50″ if ordering

and get 50 LABELS FOR FREE!! <<

Not all garment tags are created equal. There are a number of choices in material type when considering the purchase of a woven clothing label. The most common are satin, taffeta, organic cotton or damask. Here is a brief description of each type if you are not familiar with the terms. The words ‘thread count’ and ‘denier’ are important when deciding on a material for your garment label. Thread count simply refers to the thickness of the fiber. Denier refers to the weight of the fibers. So it stands to reason that a luxurious piece of fabric would have a high thread count and a lower denier. The fabric would be tightly stitched (high thread count) but lightweight (low denier).

Satin material has a low thread count. The fibers are larger and cannot be woven as tight as other options. However, the material does have a shine to it that is important to achieve a particular look and feel.

Taffeta material has a medium thread count. The fibers are a bit smaller than satin. The material has less shine to it and is more durable because the thread is synthetic and not natural.

Organic or Natural Cotton also has a medium thread count. However, since the material is natural it is softer than fibers that are man made.

Damask has a high thread count. There are also 2 types of Damask. Regular damask has a denier of 100. It is, by far, the most common material used for woven labels. We also offer 50 denier damask. Also called high definition damask. Because the fibers are even smaller than regular damask, we are able to offer very detailed images that otherwise would be impossible to weave on the previous options. For more information or samples, please give us a call or send us an email.

If you like puzzles, riddles and winning stuff then like us on Facebook because starting Monday, July 30th we will post a new puzzle or riddle to our followers (Monday – Friday). At the end of the week, be the first person to supply the correct answers to all 5 puzzles after the last puzzle is posted and we’ll send you a Rapid Tag & Label t-shirt. If you start a few days late, just scroll down to see the past questions. Remember, don’t post your answers. Hold them until you solve the final puzzle on Friday. Good luck.
